The breakwater located on the southern side Barnegat Inlet or "Inlet of the Breakers," by Dutch settlers, which sits the along Barnegat Lighthouse. The waves from the Atlantic Ocean batter the breakwater on the northern side of the inlet while this breakwater enjoys relatively calmer seas. Anywhere in this area one can catch a spectacular view of the Barnegat Lighthouse or "Old Barney" flood-lit at night making for quite a dramatic sight.
